Weddington Real Estate

Weddington Real Estate is located in Union County, North Carolina just 15 minutes from metropolitan Charlotte. The town has a population of just over 8500 residents and continues a growth trend like much of the Charlotte area. It is considered a more affluent town where household income is above average. It is has all the charm and character of a small town—although it is a relatively “new” small town.

Weddington Real Estate History

In 2008, Weddington Real Estate celebrates its 25 year anniversary as an officially incorporated town. Roots of this area of North Carolina stem back to the Waxhaw Native Americans who settled in and around this region. The area is rich in history—with many settlers finding their way to this part of Union County because of its rich agricultural value. Weddington derives its name from prominent 1890’s resident, Reuben B. Weddington, Rueben was instrumental in constructing a church and the community that continued to grew around this house of worship and Weddington Academy School—putting this little community on the map.

As the area of Charlotte and Weddington both continued to grow throughout the years, residents feared being annexed into the metro Charlotte-area. Wanting to keep their small town feel, residents incorporated in 1983 to preserve the unique past and build a shining future, like other small North Carolina towns.
