Uptown Charlotte Real Estate boasts prime property, as Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the 19th largest city in the US. The city is known as a banking-industry headquarters and is also home to a number of industries and NSCAR racing teams.  Uptown Charlotte sits between two creeks and two gold mines.

The city has 199 neighborhoods and Uptown Charlotte real estate continues to see massive construction with more shopping centers and residence buildings. New restaurants, bars and clubs are open in the Uptown area and in 2006, Courtside was the first of several new residential skyscraper to open in Uptown Charlotte.

Uptown Charlotte Real Estate History

The area was first established in the 1700’s when Thomas Polk pioneered the land with Thomas Spratt. Within the first 10-20 years, the town officially incorporated in 1768. Modern Uptown Charlotte real estate now sits at the crossroads along the Piedmont landscape. In 1770, the new town streets were marked off in a grid pattern and

its current city streets were once trading routes for Native American’s and immigrants.Charlotte was home to both American and British armies during the Revolutionary War. Charlotte is also known as the City of Churches because of its strong faith communities of Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, Episcopalians, Lutherans, and Catholics built in the 1800’s. It is also home to the nation’s first gold rush in 1799.

Uptown Charlotte Real Estate Neighborhoods

Uptown Charlotte is home to several neighborhoods, or “wards.” First Ward is a mixed income community of apartments and single-family homes within walking distance to the Center City office towers. Second Ward is considered the “government district" and is home to city and county office buildings, county courthouse, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools administration, the Law Enforcement Center and the Charlotte branch of the Federal Reserve Bank. It also houses the city's new convention center, several hotels, the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center, and Marshall Park. The Third Ward is diverse and includes a sports and entertainment area is focused on Bank of America Stadium. There are also residential neighborhood to the north and west of the stadium. The Fourth Ward is quite different from the first three and is known as a quaint, charming area with residential neighborhoods. The neighborhoods are a mix of older homes with new construction.
