In 2005 and 2006, Site Selection magazine, the official publication of the International Development Research Council, picked the Statesville-Mooresville region as the Number One “Micropolitan Area" in America for 2004.  Troutman is right in the middle of that region and is at the center of this growing economic area. It is predicted that Troutman will double in size in the next two decades. Troutman is home to the National Hot Air Balloon Rally each June and draws a huge crowd of onlookers!

Troutman Real Estate History

The Town of Troutman's dates back as far as the 1750's. Immigrants from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland moved into the area because of the abundance of land. The forests made an excellent setting for trading fur and logs for building cabins, schools, churches and businesses. It is named after one of the original land-owners, John Jacob Trautman.

The town of Troutman is serviced by the Iredell-Statesville School System, which ranks among the 20 largest school districts in North Carolina with the average teacher in having 15 years of teaching experience. Student performance places Iredell-Statesville Schools among the top 25% of school districts in the state. SAT scores, graduation rate, and writing scores are among the best in North Carolina.
