Rowan County Real Estate History

Rowan County is named for Matthew Rowan, acting North Carolina in 1753, when the county was formed.

Originally, Rowan County was a vast territory. It is now home to several cities and towns. Some of the notable residents of Rowan County are President Andrew Jackson, who practiced law in Salisbury; and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole is from Salisbury.

 

Rowan County Education

Rowan County Homes for Sale have excellent school systems. Rowan County is home to a number of public elementary, middle and high schools through the Rowan County School District.  There are also a number of private school options including Rockwell Christian School, Salisbury Academy, Salisbury Adventist School Sacred Heart Catholic School and North Hills Christian School. There are also several colleges, including Livingstone College, Catawba College and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

The Rowan County Parks and Recreation Department is second to none! There are five parks in this system offering a wide array of activities from camping, playing ball and miniature golf to riding a carousel and miniature train. Of course, you can also enjoy the gazebo or have a picnic.
