Rockwell NC Real Estate

A quaint little town with a big heart, Rockwell NC Real Estate is a good place to raise a family—large or small. The population is only about 2000 and the town is two miles wide in southern, rural Rowan County. Though it is a small town, there are a number of diversified businesses in and around Rockwell. The town is in close proximity to larger Salisbury, Concord and Albemarle.

Rockwell Homes for Sale

Diversity abounds in Rockwell. From high dollar homes to small cottages and farmhouses, Rockwell has much to offer buyer in any stage of life or lifestyle. Most lots have larger than average acreage and large trees.

Rockwell Real Estate History

Like many small towns in the Carolinas, Rockwell boomed in the late 1800s when the railroad moved into town. The history of the town’s name is as simple as it sounds. There was a popular watering hole—a rock well—that any visitors would camp near before the town was more heavily settled. The small town also grew with the finishing of the Salisbury-Albemarle Highway (U.S. 52) in 1925.

Historical attractions include the Grace United Church of Christ and Organ Lutheran Church, which both date back to the 1700’s. Graveyards at both churches include genealogical information.  Near Rockwell also sits the Old Stone House, which is known as the oldest German house in North Carolina. The house was built of granite from the 1750’s. The town is also proud of their Historic Rockwell Museum, organized recently by local volunteers. It includes memorabilia and artifacts and is in the preserved post office.

Rockwell Real Estate Parks

The Rockwell Park is a stunning family-friendly place that was completed in phases. It includes landscaping, three shelters with picnic tables and grills, playgrounds, horseshoe pits and a 1/3 mile walking and jogging trail. There is also a softball field, basketball and volleyball courts, a paved walking path and paved bike and skate path. Park benches are sprinkled around the gazebo and fitness areas. Two bridges arch over the creek that runs through the park.
