Mineral Springs Real Estate Claim to Fame

Speaking of horse farms…Did you know Mineral Springs is home to the famous Queen’s Cup, a nationally recognized steeplechase event occurring every April? Brooklandwood is a large farm and estate just outside Mineral Springs which hosts the Queen’s Cup annually. The program for the day includes a number of horse racing events as well as a Jack Russell Terries judging competition. Nearly 10,000 people visit Mineral Springs from all over the United States to take part in this event. Jockeys dressed in bright colored silks ride and jump their horses to victory clearing four foot jumps in two to three miles turf courses. A family event, the Queen’s Cup event is dotted with ladies in summer sundresses and summer hats and men in dress slacks. It’s a serious racing event with a fun flair.

Mineral Springs Educational System

Families in Mineral Springs are served by the Union County School District, one of the fastest growing school systems in all of North Carolina. Although Union County School District has experienced rapid growth, it has kept pace and continues to excel. For the third year in a row, Union County Public Schools seniors, on the average, scored higher than seniors taking the SAT on both the state and the national level. To keep up with the growing student population, many new schools have been erected and new school plans are still being made.

Mineral Springs Real Estate Plans for Future Growth

Residents of Mineral Springs enjoy their small town, rural feel. In 2006 Mineral Springs went through a Vision Planning process with UNC Charlotte Professors and City Planners to complete a Community Planning Analysis. One strategy to meet growth included preserving the environment and promoting active participation in the community to develop a greenway network. Throughout Union County and Mineral Springs there lies productive agricultural land, beautiful tree stands and rolling hills and clear streams. The residents seek very purposeful and limited growth as to preserve their rural heritage.
