Locust Real Estate History

Locust began in the 1860s by German, Scotch Irish and English immigrants. Travelers would come through the area as they traveled to other North Carolina counties such as Cabarrus, Anson and Mecklenburg. Locust was known as a crossroads. In 1869 a post office was established and in 1894 the town was officially named “Locust Level” for the beautiful Locust trees and the level land across Charlotte Road.
